What do I get if I become a subscriber?

You get the pride of knowing that you contributed directly to boosting local news and consequently, supporting a healthy democracy. All big ideas aside, you also get unlimited access to all our paywalled content, supporter-only emails, access to annual transparency reports on where your money goes, and when we have them — invites to supporter-only events. 

How can I contribute without going through the website?

Is your website secure?

All payments are processed through Stripe. Stripe is a PCI Service Provider Level 1 which is the highest grade of payment processing security. All credit card information is encrypted, sent directly to Stripe and is never sent to our website server. This means that we are PCI compliant and any breach of our website won’t result in stolen credit card information. Learn more here.

Will my contribution be considered a charitable donation for tax purposes?

No. We don’t have charitable status, so we can’t provide you a charitable tax receipt.

I am already subscribed. How do I cancel my subscription?

If you would like to cancel your subscription, please log into the website here. Once logged in, click the “Subscriptions” button, then select “Cancel” subscription. I am already subscribed. How can I update my credit card?

If you need to change your credit card information, please get in touch using the “Request customer support” form in the bottom right corner of this page. Provide your name and phone number that you can be reached at. We will be in touch to update your credit card information. Please only provide a note, name and contact information. We cannot accept credit card information by email or through the support form.

What if I can’t afford to subscribe?

We understand that even though our paywall is a pay what you can, for some people even that is a barrier. We also believe that being an engaged member of our democracy requires access to information, and we don’t think being engaged should be dependent on your ability to pay. If money, specifically the lack thereof, is an accessibility issue for you, contact us through the “Request customer support” form at the bottom right corner of this page and we’ll get you set up.
